Hopefully no-one is surprised that "How to Calculate Compound Interest" article follows "How to Calculate Simple Interest".

This too is born as a preview, so I have a copyright record of the images I made for the article to be published at Decoded Science.

Sometimes an infographic is more legible than the text on a web page.

I've also publicized this article, with additional Canadian content, in "What is Compound Interest at Decoded Science" at DeHaan Services.

One Writing Tip with Interest

This writing tip, like compound interest itself, builds on what has gone before.

It might have been possible to write one article about calculating interest.

However, it would have been longer than the Decoded Science ideal length.

It would also lose focus, especially for anyone looking for a really specific answer to either simple interest or compound interest.

There's no harm in writing a series of articles, unless you deliberately chop up one useful concept to increase the number of page views.

Conversely, readers who have to scroll through too many virtual pages, or click "next" seeking the elusive kernal of wisdom, are likely to give up in despair.

So the writing tip is to focus your article on one topic; cover it well; and write a series to cover the material that overflows the one-article-sized container.

    Flexible Sidebar

Weebly's "Blog Author" widget from the Blog Sidebar's Elements menu provides a lot of flexibility. You can change both the title and the text.

It has all the capabilities for text editing that you find in most Weebly text widgets.

At this point, I don't see a way to code any HTML in this widget.

The "Picture" does what you expect: it displays an image of your choice. I just added my home-made picture of "Copyright DeHaan Services 2013" as the top element in this sidebar on Jan. 22, 2013.

The "Search Box" is a "Pro" feature; if you're paying for Weebly hosting, it may be worthwhile.

The other widgets are pre-programmed to do what they say.
