Writing Tasks for Feb. 9, 2011 Include SocialMonkee
Mike DeHaan
My early result with SocialMonkee flipped backwards for The DeHaan Lens for Wood Computer Desks. It returned to the bad 230 on the SERP (Search Engine Results Page) from a one-day bounce to 60 or so. My Suite 101 article did not receive much of a change, except that one keyword improved. Clearly this is going to take a while to study.
Besides the time spent on checking previous work, this morning saw a pair of Windows updates; both required a re-boot. I also squeezed in an Adobe update for the second reboot. The times, they are a-wasting.
I will hold off sending another Suite 101 article to Social Monkee until I can understand the situation better. I did some analysis for an Environmental Graffiti article, but it is doing well and has some good SERP values, so it is not the most likely candidate.
Returning to Squidoo, my Lens Rank for my top lens, The DeHaan Lens for Coat Rack Stands has fluctuated since my recent update: it went up, then down, then up again. I can imagine losing rank against other lenses that were updated or visited or "liked". Did my lens gain rank because others were pushed down for some reason? The only cause that I can imagine is that lenses with no recent updates become non-promoted within Squidoo.
In other news, Suite 101 sent the second spreadsheet showing which articles earned a percentage of income for me. The Pareto 80/20 ratio continued (20% of articles earned 80% of revenue) but the top three were a bit more even. I need to analyze further to determine which articles to improve, and by what means.
I still have not received feedback for my client projects, so freelance articles are my next probable source of revenue. On the non-paying side, last night one charitable board asked me to update the web site. This might be a chance to do a free Wordpress.org site. As well, I need to write up the minutes of that meeting.

SocialMonkee for "Chocolate vs Carob" in Environmental Graffiti
Carob Tree or Ceratonia siliqua by Luis nunes alberto
I decided to plunge deep with SocialMonkee anyway, and publicize this article. It has been doing gangbusters in Environmental Graffiti, but then I checked the SERP results for several key phrases.
Several needed work, so again I spent a couple hours just for the SEO research, and to decide on the three titles, tags and descriptions to submit to SocialMonkee.
So let us see whether this makes a difference to Making an Environmental Choice between Chocolate and Carob (original title...but EG changes titles sometimes). According to the Environmental Graffiti statistics, the majority of my page views are coming from within EG itself, rather than through search engines. That suggests a significant difference in my audience's behaviour, as the searches had been shown as the main drivers for my readership.
