Day of Discovery for SERP and Weebly
Mike DeHaan
I apologize to anyone looking for a "Day of Discovery" religious broadcast, because this blog is not that broadcast.
Today I learned several things, and have many tasks to keep me busy.
SocialMonkee has not made an impact on SERP (Search Engine Result Page) for the three articles I have tested. There had been a bump for the first article on the first "morning after", but nothing else really changed.
I will try further SocialMonkee experiments, probably on one of my earlier posts in Weebly and for a DeHaan Services page. My reason is that the article sites already have their good standing with the search engines; an extra 25 back-links probably do nothing for the underlying site. The back-links should have done something for my specific articles, however. Sometime I need to decide which articles to check for these other sites.
I also confirmed that Weebly handles multiple blog posts as expected. It lists the ten most recent posts, and allows one to scroll back 10 posts with each click of the "<<Previous" button. My vote usually goes to the straightforward and simple.
Note that this series, named "The DeHaan Blog of Writing", does not use Weebly blog posts. It sets up new pages inside the site.
If I had not mentioned it already, one Squidoo lens did receive a Lens Rank boost from getting additional content. It now averages a better rank than before. The rank does vary from day to day, but it has never slipped back to the poorer rank it had before my updates. The lesson for Squidoo seems clear: although one can write a lens very quickly, it takes a lot more effort and content to make a lens with a decent rank.

Writing Tasks for Feb. 11, 2011
That is usually my top paragraph in this blog. Since my client projects are stalled, due to slow feedback from these clients, I have turned to freelance projects.
Today I want to experiment with writing in time-limited slots. I had just started two e-books, and began researching one Suite 101 article. I have also committed to trying to set up a WordPress site for a charity that I serve, so that is another large task.
I certainly had time-limited slots, and have made some progress with the e-books. Errands and paying bills took up valuable working time, too. I do use some of my time walking to think about my writing; but it would be perilous to text an article while walking down the street!
