"Bible and Canadian Mennonite Magazines" image by Mike DeHaan
Since I made this image for "Did the 'Canadian Mennonite' Become Political in 2012?" in Suite 101, I first publish it here in my Blog of Writing. That establishes my copyright.

Too bad about the glare from the flash.

Further Publicity...

Naturally I also publicize my articles in DeHaan Services ("Do Canadian Mennonites have Current Events?") and in my Xanga blog ("A Current Event for the 'Canadian Mennonite' Magazine").

I also published the whole set of three new Suite 101 channels and the three new articles for them in my DeHaan Directory's "Mennonite Channels and Articles in Suite 101 for Nov. 2012".

One Mennonite Writing Tip

My writing tip remind "all us writers" to remain aware of current events; and to maintain some journalistic detachment from the problem.

When I first learned about this contretemps between a government agency and the Canadian Mennonite magazine, my first reaction was a mild concern about this issue. It affects my denomination and people in it.

As a writer, I'm ashamed that it took me a day or so to realized that I was sitting on a current events article.

For goodness sake, don't let journalism turn you into an unfeeling vampire, leaching news from people who need assistance or compassion.

But once you've applied first aid, write about the situation.

Although I can't do much about the problem for my denomination's publication, I certainly can and should write my article based on current events encountered by the 'Canadian Mennonite' magazine.

    Flexible Sidebar

Weebly's "Blog Author" widget from the Blog Sidebar's Elements menu provides a lot of flexibility. You can change both the title and the text.

It has all the capabilities for text editing that you find in most Weebly text widgets.

At this point, I don't see a way to code any HTML in this widget.

The "Picture" does what you expect: it displays an image of your choice. I just added my home-made picture of "Copyright DeHaan Services 2013" as the top element in this sidebar on Jan. 22, 2013.

The "Search Box" is a "Pro" feature; if you're paying for Weebly hosting, it may be worthwhile.

The other widgets are pre-programmed to do what they say.
